I have been watching the onedayers being played in state level cricket and i have noticed there are a lot of new young cricketers around, the cricketers that have been around for a few years are playing good cricket but the new breed have yet to impress me, but last years new talent are stating to show some good cricket, I really enjoy watching Shawn Tait Bowl, young fast bowler from south Australia,it might be a few years before he plays for Australia, hope they pick him for a few Australian A games and test him out against the Kiwis and Poms.
So if you have seen any new talent that might play for Australia oneday please let up know. |

Saw some talent yesterday(Sunday). young fella playing for WA(groan) hit one of the fastest hundreds for quite a while but the ironic thing is HE got dropped for Wednesday game. Who says there isn't the Boy's club.? May have been a pre agreement!. And he may have been a ONE day wonder...........pardon my pun! (IMG:http://abcofcricket.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) Don't know much about this Shawn Tait(love the Irish name) and hope to see him in action when the stupid TV channel over here decides to not be so parochial and show a non WA game. Don't know if he is is line for a call up for the ODI's.?? |

Personally, I don't think he is suited to one dayers. He's very fast and like most young bucks who are, goes for a few runs every now and then, so for one dayers he would probably be too expensive. But, it will probably change as he gets more experience. Tait is earmarked for a Baggygreen, but it will probably be a couple more years before he gets the permanent call. When Pigeon retires, Tait will be promoted. But, if Bing gets a little more consistent, Tait might end up the bridesmaid. |

Tait and lee bowling together in a match......now I would love to see that, there both very fast bowlers with the ability to swing it both ways and reverse the old ball. Ashley Noftke is also a good young fast bowler from QLD, he bowls good pace and steady line and length a bit like a young Glenn Mcgrath, a young Dominic Thornley from NSW just score 261, I have seen him a few times in ING and even Australian A side, he is what you call an allrounder but more of a batter then a bowler.

Some of these "A" teams are very good and have been known to knock off the highly fancied teams in the ODI's. Australia did this a few years ago and it was a sucess. We don't see a lot of the young ones coming thru the ranks until debut time, and by playing these one dayers, they get conditioned to big crowds and in a sense it could help them later in their careers. |

Most of the current Test nations do have an A team as such, but the cricket boards are not sending them on tours. They generally have them sitting around waiting to play matches against visiting teams. Michael Clarke is a classic example of junior/minor rep teams touring other nations in order to garner experience. Clarkey has toured India at least 4 times that I know of in the last 5 years. So is there any wonder this kid blossomed in India. One of the main problems with development overseas is the fact that boards are not putting money into the lower grades. Places like Kenya, Zimbabwe, India, Pakistan and to some degre the Windies are so rife with corruption and badly spent funds that it is a wonder they even survive. If it wasn't for the funds from lucrative TV contracts they probably wouldn't. |

Do you mean the Bangladesh team Jimbo? Yes, very good competition indeed.
You make it sound like I need reminding who the best team are. Also, I wouldn't use a capital letter with sheep, it infers they mean a lot to you. And maybe they do. Ok I'm done with reprimanding you now, NEXT! |
