The 2004 ICC Champions Trophy in England is set to kick off with the first matches between England and Zimbabwe at Edgbaston and New Zealand and the USA at The Oval on September 10.
The competition is one known for its upsets due to its knockout format and remains one of the last unconquered frontiers of the Australian Juggernaut, but the Aussies are likely to have stiff competition from England who have improved tremendously in recent months, Sri Lanka who have just come off a winning one day series against the South Africans and New Zealand who have won 15 of their last 17 one day internationals.
Although South Africa have performed below par recently, we can expect an improved performance during this competition due to the fact their Pool matches are against Bangladesh and the West Indies, with both teams appearing to be in the doldrums of late.
