New Zealand Pulls Out of Kenya World Cup Match

Cricket News 01/02/03

The New Zealand Cricket team will not be playing any of it's scheduled World Cup matches in Kenya. A decision made by the New Zealand Cricket Board after reviewing all the evidence regarding the safety and security issues.
As part of the process, the New Zealand Board has received additional safety and security reports, which have come to hand since Tuesday and has taken further advice from independent security consultant Reg Dickason.
The Board has concluded on the basis of the information currently available the safety and security risk for Black Caps players is too high.
The New Zealand Cricket Board will give notice to the ICC that it does not believe the decision taken by the ICC last night was reasonable, a matter which will now be resolved through legal processes.
The safety and security of the team was the only relevant consideration addressed by the New Zealand Board.
The information received by the ICC Security Delegation to Kenya, made it clear there is a tangible terrorist threat in Nairobi and the Board has seen nothing which changes that.
